Description: On the next 14 miles, view and access the Smith River and pass through creekside riparian areas and varying forest types for good birding, especially during warmer months. Look for Band-tailed Pigeon, Olive-sided Flycatcher, Western Wood Pewee, Pacific-slope Flycatcher, Violet-green Swallow, Steller’s Jay, Chestnut-backed Chickadee, American Dipper (at bridges) Golden-crowned Kinglet, and Cassin’s, Hutton’s and Warbling Vireos. Also see breeding Purple Finch, Red Crossbill, and Pine Siskin. |
